Hi! My name is Sara and welcome to my blog. I live next to the sea on the west coast of Scotland with my partner Graham and our two kids, Beth and Arthur.
I like to try my hand at most crafts, like felting, photography and quilting, but knitting is my greatest passion. Babies wearing hand knitted hats get my heart racing!
I also love sewing and repurposing vintage fabrics. Recently I put my Great Aunt’s 1960’s Bernina sewing machine into retirement and now I’m using a more modern singer. The machine can do exciting stitches and is more reliable but I do miss the lovely old sound my Bernina made.
We moved into our house at the start of summer 2014. Our village is near the sea and it is lead to by a forested glen with a river running through it. It is wonderful. Plus the village is known for it’s arts and crafts, how perfect it that? The house we bought was a bit neglected before we moved in and it needs a lot of attention and love put into it, but it means we can put our own personal stamp on it. It’s a slow process doing it with limited money and free time but it’s getting there.
Right now I’m undertaking my master degree part time as part of my Health Visitor training. I’m a qualified nurse and worked in the acute medical devision until I was lucky to be seconded to do what I’m doing now. It’s a lifelong dream and I am very fortunate.
Growing up my Mum and I used to always recite the poem “The Owl and the Pussy Cat” and when it came to naming this blog the poem popped into my head. It seemed a good fit.
